KINDNESS + ADVENTURES

KINDNESS

Children with Ball

We are fortunate to have responsible and ethical volunteer partners with People and Places (UK) and Treak Community Centre (Cambodia).

People and Places match volunteer skills to project needs to create a mutually beneficial relationship between the volunteers and the community they visit. As an award-winning, ethical and responsible volunteer travel company with many years of experience, Kindness Adventures is pleased to partner with People and Places to ensure the best possible service experience.

Funded by charitable donations, Treak Community Centre in Siem Reap provides free education to around 300 children and young people every day.  In addition, Treak runs their Community Support Programme that provides training, jobs, and income for parents and other villagers to help people take control of their own futures which fits with their overarching philosophy to create opportunities not dependency.

We will be working with our partners to properly prepare for our trip, to understand and appreciate Cambodian culture and to offer our help in culturally sensitive ways that empower rather than undermine local people.

To learn more and and take a tour:

Treak Community Centre

In preparation for our KINDNESS service project, we are each required to provide People and Places with information -- including background check, personal statements for placement on projects, references and agreement to child protection policy and volunteerism code of conduct.

With your skills and interests in mind, here is a listing of potential projects:

    • Running sports activities with Treak children at break and/or lunchtimes
    • Running hygiene lessons with younger children (5 – 10 years old)

Adventure
ad·ven·ture
/ədˈven(t)SHər/

An adventure is an exciting experience or undertaking that is typically bold, sometimes risky.

If you are ready to LEAP into the New Year with women empowering women to make a difference through kindness and adventure, we have a space for you. Let's begin together.

JacquelineAndCarolyn Hands

For a New Beginning by John O'Donohue

In out-of-the-way places of the heart,
Where your thoughts never think to wander,
This beginning has been quietly forming,
Waiting until you were ready to emerge.

For a long time it has watched your desire,
Feeling the emptiness growing inside you,
Noticing how you willed yourself on,
Still unable to leave what you had outgrown.

It watched you play with the seduction of safety
And the gray promises that sameness whispered,
Heard the waves of turmoil rise and relent,
Wondered would you always live like this.

Then the delight, when your courage kindled,
And out you stepped onto new ground,
Your eyes young again with energy and dream,
A path of plenitude opening before you.

Though your destination is not yet clear
You can trust the promise of this opening;
Unfurl yourself into the grace of beginning
That is at one with your life's desire.

Awaken your spirit to adventure;
Hold nothing back, learn to find ease in risk;
Soon you will home in a new rhythm,
For your soul senses the world that awaits you.
